Free range, pasture roaming, stress free & humanly raised small livestock
Applegarth is a small family farm in upstate New York which has been raising animals naturally and humanely for close to thirty years. Quality of life for the animals has always been the first consideration in our practice of producing meat, wool and other farm products.
Applegarth is situated on a beautiful hillside in Southern Otsego County with a marvelous view looking southwest and providing an excellent example of responsible stewardship.
We maintain a small farm so as to better manage the needs of our animals; all our animals are treated with love and respect and assured a comfortable and stress-free lifestyle which we believe benefits the health of the consumer. As always, our products are hormone free, sunlight enriched and free ranged.
Healthy Animals & Nutrition:
At Applegarth, the value is added to our products by Nature and by the way the animals have lived their lives. Our meat animals are raised on pasture and hay with the addition of grains only as needed. The more grass or hay that is fed, the higher the concentration of essential vitamins and minerals in the meat. Therefore, our meats are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, free of the contamination which comes from harsh confinement and stress. Omega-3 fatty acids are the “good” fats, playing a vital role in the healthy function of every cell in our bodies, helping to prevent many diseases, even Alzheimer’s.
When medical treatment is needed for an animal, we use natural remedies and homeopathy, rarely resorting to allopathic practices. As a result, we are pleased to offer to an ever growing market a product that is superior to the factory farmed foods so many people are accustomed to purchasing. At Applegarth the animals are enjoying themselves and this means you, the consumer, can feel good about the life they’ve led and about the food you are eating.
